For hiking fans

If you are on holiday in Feld am See, you simply have to visit it: our local mountain Mirnock. When we’re not busy working, we love to hike with our dog Coco from Wieseralm pasture above Lake Afritzer See up to the summit of Mirnock and then on to Hochalm hut, where we get pampered with hearty snacks from their own production. The host family spends the entire summer in the hut and produces all food themselves. The bacon, for example, comes from the animals who live on the pasture. The entire tour lasts four hours and delights with fantastic panoramic views of Lake Millstätter See and the surrounding mountain world.

For bike enthusiasts

We get into the saddle directly in front of the hotel and cycle over Feldpannalm pasture with its lush green meadows past Weger hut on to sunny Rieser hut. Our tip: Try their yummy afternoon snack! The easy tour takes about 1.5 hours.

For cooling down!

The most beautiful place for swimming at Lake Brennsee? If you ask us, the Bikers’ lounge with free lake access at the northern shore! If you want to truly immerse yourself, head straight to Lake Millstätter See. Here, we recommend combining the bathing fun with a leisurely stroll along the lake’s eastern shore.

A day with your Kärnten Card

With Kärnten Card you can experience the whole variety of our adventure land with free admissions and advantageous discounts. With the wide range of exciting offers, we ourselves can hardly decide what to choose every time. Because you’ll probably feel the same way, we have put together two suggestions for a truly perfect day with your Kärnten Card.

Day 1:
After a scrumptious breakfast at Burgstallerhof, visit the Wildlife Centre in Feld am See – a great experience for young and old! Then it’s time to soak up the midday sun during a boat trip on Lake Millstätter See, before heading straight to the Bonsai Museum in Seeboden and admiring the world of Japanese garden art.

Day 2:
Strengthened by a delicious breakfast at our hotel, you set off for Hochosterwitz Castle, which offers a varied cultural programme. The ascent on foot through the 14 historic castle gates is particularly beautiful. Then you climb Pyramidenkogel, Carinthia’s most beautiful observation tower, where you get to enjoy a unique panoramic view of Carinthia and its impressive lake landscape at a height of 120 metres. The day ends at the Kletterwald Ossiacher See climbing forest, from where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the lake.

Out and about on your motorbike

A real highlight for motorbike fans is riding the Nockalm Road, a 34-kilometre panoramic road through the unique Nock Mountains Biosphere Park. Exciting bends and dreamlike views make the motorbiking experience in the gentle high mountains perfect. And best of all: Thanks to the Kärnten Card you can access the road for free!

Junior host Marko is also happy to recommend his personal tour favourites. His favourite tour for experienced riders: From Feld am See you ride via Feistritz an der Drau and Nötsch im Gailtal to Tarvisio in Italy and finally on to Slovenia, from where you ride via Bovec and Žaga to Uccea in Italy. Via Povici and Pontebba you return to Austria and get back to Feld am See via Hermagor, Greifenburg, and Lendorf. The varied 5.5-hour tour takes you through three countries in one day and impresses with winding routes in the midst of beautiful nature.

Ice skating on a frozen lake

What should not be missing from your to-do list for your winter holiday in Carinthia? An excursion to Lake Weissensee, which is just under 70 kilometres away. You can skate on up to eight kilometres of natural ice, and a cosy atmosphere is provided by stalls with drinks and small delicacies. Listen up, dog owners: Ice skating with your four-legged friend is allowed and truly unforgettable!

Tobogganing fun

A real highlight for tobogganing fans: Night-time tobogganing in Bad Kleinkirchheim. The tractor taxi will take you to the starting point before you race down the approximately 4.5 kilometres of illuminated toboggan run. Once per week, you can crown your tobogganing adventure with tasty ribs at Unterwirt hut.

For winter hikers

Bianka’s tip for passionate winter hikers is the 12-kilometre-long Two Lakes Round. The beautiful route leads around Lake Brennsee and Lake Afritzer See, and then via the Sonnenweg back to the hotel – fantastic lake view included!

For cross-country skiers

Nearby Bad Kleinkirchheim delights cross-country skiers with two wonderful trails and the Cross-country Skiing Seal of Quality of the state of Carinthia: With the eight-kilometre-long Römerloipe trail, which leads through moderately difficult and varied terrain, and the challenging 2.5-kilometre-long Sportloipe trail, which runs parallel to Römerloipe and can be combined with it, there is something for every level of difficulty.

For the daring: ice bathing

Even if it may take your breath away: Regular ice bathing strengthens the immune system, protects against infections, and promotes blood circulation. The brave ones have the opportunity to go ice bathing in Lake Millstätter See at their own risk.
